I’m dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. Where the palm trees glisten and the children listen to hear, sleigh bells in the sand. Yes, the sand, sand. That’s the holiday season for an island gurl spending Christmas in the Virgin Islands.
Christmas in the Virgin Islands – Holiday Series
Growing up in the Virgin Islands, our white Christmas was less about cold and snow and more about warmth and sand.
From Thanksgiving onward it was clear when the island was in holiday mode.
Every other week planes brought in family members, friends, or vacationers running away from the cold to our warm atmosphere. The holiday meals were around the clock as you went from house to house to greet family and friends.
Christmas is one of the most exciting and busiest times of the year in the Virgin Islands. I always loved this time of year. I loved it so much that over the next few weeks, starting in December, I will be sharing my top 3 favorite things I miss from my times spending Christmas in the Virgin Islands.
Stay tuned as I reminisce about the holiday season. Who knows? Some of my favorite things may be yours too!!
