Our Visit to the SugarMill in Conyers, Georgia

My husband, mother-in-law, and I stopped by this small bakery in Conyers, GA. I had seen a post about it on Facebook and read that it was owned/operated by a local Crucian. It was on me and my husbands (the Crucian) list of places to try and we just so happened to be in the area on that day in October 2018.

My mother-in-law tried the banana bread. After tasting the first piece, she bought a second one.

My husband, the coconut lover, did not have many options that had coconut. I think there was a mango cheesecake that had some coconut on it (don’t quote me on that). But according to the owners, coconut desserts were not very popular among statesiders.

My husband had to opt for a cinnamon roll instead that he shared with our daughter. He said it was good, but he has to try it again because he didn’t eat it on the day that he bought it when it was fresh.

Last but not least, I had me a slice of red velvet cake. One thing I always look for in a red velvet cake is the taste and texture and the accompanying icing. Look, there are a lot of people that get that wrong and ruin my vision of a red velvet cake.

The SugarMill did not disappoint on the red velvet cake. It wasn’t too sweet and the icing did not overpower the cake. The taste was just right, velvety chocolate and it just about melted in my mouth.

So, if you’re in Conyers, Georgia and in need of a good Caribbean dessert, step on in to The SugarMill and grab a treat with a coffee. They also take custom orders for the coconut lovers and Virgin Islands vienna cake fiends.
